Crime Analysis
Base Map - ESRI Online
Methodology
This map was created using ESRI Online services. I created the data within an excel file using locations within Colorado. The data was geocoded through the online services offered by ESRI. On the fictitious crime data I added a field to calculate the day of week which the offense occurred. The pattern shown here of more offenses occurring in the middle of the week mimics the same pattern seen in real crime data I analyzed.

The same data set used for the above map was modified and used for this representation. The goal of this map was to demonstrate patterns over a time frame of 30 days. The larger symbols representing the most recent activity and the smaller lighter feature to show the previous three week's activity. This sampling was a little small to demonstrate emerging patterns. This is a very basic concept used mostly to evaluate ERSI online services and the geocoding process for accuracy and speed.
